Festival Internacional de Musica Sacra Quito 2015

Iglesia de Santa Teresita Quito, Ecuador
Wednesday, March 25, 2015 - 7:00pm

We are thrilled to return to Quito, Ecuador for the 2015 Festival Internacional de Música Sacra. One of the first UNESCO World Heritage sites, the historic center of Quito contains the largest collection of 17th and 18th century architecture in South America. This festival of sacred music takes place during Holy Week and before, with dozens of performances occurring in many of the city's historic cathedrals and museums. Our program will feature settings of the liturgical text of the Stabat Mater by Antonio Vivaldi, Alessandro Scarlatti, and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. We combine our favorite movements from these sublime works for soprano and countertenor to create the complete liturgical sequence, interspersed with musical meditations and laments by Johann Hermann Schein, Heinrich Biber, Johann Schmelzer and Alessandro Scarlatti.

With guests:

Mary Wilson, soprano

Ian Howell, countertenor

Evan Few, violin

Kristen Linfante, viola

Justin Wallace, organ
