The First Church Choir is joined by soloists and the period instrument ensemble Chatham Baroque, to present Bach’s monumental Johannespassion, BWV 245. The St. John Passion, first sung on Good Friday in 1724 at the Nikolaikirche in Leipzig, is one of two surviving passions by Bach. It is a work of incredible scope, musical beauty, and textual richness. Soloists will include Dennis Shuman, Jonas Budris, Wee Kiat Chia, Christopher Humbert, Matthew Cramer, Elizabeth McConnaughey, and Margaret Wells. Kevin Jones will conduct.
