Violinist Johanna Novom appears as a soloist, principal, chamber and orchestral musician with period ensembles across the US. A first prize winner of the American Bach Soloists’ International Young Artists Competition, Johanna has held the position of Associate Concertmaster of Apollo’s Fire, the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra, since the completion of her Master’s degree at Oberlin Conservatory. She performs with the American Bach Soloists, the Trinity Wall Street Baroque Orchestra, Chatham Baroque, Concert Royal, NYS Baroque, and the Dallas Bach Society, among others. Recent and upcoming festival engagements include the Boston Early Music Festival, the Carmel Bach Festival, the Chautauqua Festival, the Shandalee Festival, the Magnolia Baroque Festival, the Five Boroughs Music Festival, and in Russia, Moscow’s Golden Mask Festival with the Mark Morris dance company. Performing takes Johanna to magnificent concert halls and churches throughout Europe and North America, recently New York’s Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, Rome’s Santa Maria Basilica, and London’s Wigmore Hall. She spent this past season as a fellowship member of the Yale Baroque Ensemble, directed by Robert Mealy. Johanna is also a core member of the chamber ensembles Flying Forms and the Sebastian Chamber Players, a finalist of the York Early Music Competition and a current finalist in the Naxos/Early Music America recording competition. She has recorded with the Trinity Baroque Orchestra and Choir, Concert Royal, and on the Avie label as concertmaster of Apollo’s Fire.
